Brian Erickson
Biography
This is my fourth year as the Head Instructor for Blackie School's "Project Ice" or, as it is formally called, Hockey Canada Skills Academy. I have taught for 30 years since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Physical Education. I attended university on a hockey scholarship where our team advanced to the NCAA Division 1 Final Four tournament in 2 out of my 4 years.
After university, I played 4 years of professional hockey in the American and Central Hockey Leagues.
I have taught hockey schools and skating programs for over 25 years and have coached from house league hockey to Bantam AAA, as well as the Midget 15 program.
I have been a course conductor for Hockey Alberta and for the last 4 summers I have attended Hockey Canada's four day seminar for Academy instructors, to stay updated on the lastest in player skill development.
I also served as President of the Alberta Health and Physical Education Specialist Council of the ATA.
Sports, hockey, teaching and kids have been my life and that is why I thoroughly enjoy working with the students in Project Ice as well the other students in the gym and the classroom.
