Biography

I am thrilled to be returning to Blackie School as the grade 6-7 homeroom teacher again this year. I have always enjoyed teaching and embraced a challenge, as demonstrated in my diverse teaching career. After graduating with a Bachelors of Education from the University of Calgary 1984, I have worked with every grade and taught numerous subjects. I have taught at schools in Lacombe, Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, Condor and of course, in and around Blackie. One year, I even got to work as an outdoor educator for the Calgary Board of Education. Whether I was taking my junior high diversity classroom fishing for their first time or canning with a high school foods studies class or pointing out a constellation to a student who had never even seen a star before or sitting by a student as the “light bulb” went on, I have always felt lucky to be called a teacher!

I am looking forward to a great year back at Blackie School with some of the best students, parents, and staff in our division as we learn and grow together.
